Hello Hua Lien 久違的花蓮 -1

It has been several years since last time I visited Hua Lien. It was Guan that already bought the discount coupon for “Butterfly Valley Resort” on a traveling fair and invited me to have a trip. Otherwise, I almost forgot this place. Originally, we booked hotel at Aug 8.But a terrible typhoon attacked Taiwan at that day. We put off the trip to Sep.

It was a big challenge to buy the train tickets. I heard that it is difficult to get a ticket during the weekend and it is true. Patty tried to buy it on the internet in the early morning at 6 am 2 weeks ago before Aug 8.The tickets was sold out in 1 second. She couldn’t buy any tickets. In the end, Violin got the tickets through a travel agency.

Taking “Taroko Train” is quite comfortable. The seats are wide, which is bigger than the seats in the high speed rail train. It only took around 2 hours to get to Hua Lien. There was still 4 hours free time until we take shuttle of hotel, so we wondered around the information center to checks where the hot spots in the Hua Lien are. But we met a taxi driver who also has a tour guide license. He showed us some beautiful places.

The first stop is 松園別館(Pine Garden)

I heard that this place used to be a base for Japanese army. The location is on a high hill. We can see Pacific Ocean from the garden. There are also many pine trees in the garden. Under this hot sunny day, this is a cool and quiet place.

Next Stop is a railway memory hall.

From the front door, we can see a standard Japanese building.

Then, we went to Hualian Jian Ching-xiu Yuan(花蓮吉安慶修院)

This place made me so confused. I felt that I was in a Japan temple not in Taiwan.

After visiting those Japanese buildings, we went to buy 公正包子 bao zi before we stepped in the shuttle bus.
